MARLIN McKNIGHT
ILLUSTRATOR & GRAPHIC DESIGNER
Marlin McKnight is an artist specializing in portraiture and identity-based designs, working across oil, acrylic, watercolor, charcoal, and digital media. From a young age, his passion for art ignited when he stumbled upon the comic series Dragon Ball, by the late Akira Toriyama, and was immediately captivated by the powerful connection between story and visual expression.
Though his academic path initially focused on science and math, Marlin’s love for art remained central to his life. While completing his undergraduate studies in Chemistry and Biology, he founded Sterlinart, an art business where he began creating customized portraits in various media. Over time, his practice expanded to murals, book illustrations, and design work. Now, nearing the completion of his master’s in design at the University of Arkansas, Marlin is focused on refining his craft and finding new ways to express beauty, complexity, and brilliance through his work.
Driven by the belief that art is a powerful means of storytelling and self-expression, Marlin aims to continue growing as an artist and educator. He draws inspiration from the imperfections in his subjects, seeking to capture their true essence in ways that invite viewers to see beyond the surface.
